After creating your account, you can invite others to join your organization through the developer portal.

  1. Sign in to the developer portal.
  2. Click the organization drop-down in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select My Organization.
  4. On the organization page, click Invite.
  5. Enter the user's details and save.

Once sent, the invitation will appear as pending until the user accepts it and becomes an active member. Invitations expire after 48 hours, so if the user doesn't accept within that time, you'll need to resend the invitation.

An application is required to subscribe to an API.

  1. Sign in to the developer portal.
  2. Navigate to Apps from the main menu.
  3. Select Create new app and follow the prompts to complete the setup.

Once the application is created, the application credentials will be displayed. Be sure to copy your API Secret and store it securely, as it will not be shown again.

To access an API product, you must subscribe to a plan.

  1. Sign in to the developer portal.
  2. Navigate to API Products from the main menu.
  3. Select the appropriate API.
  4. Click Get access.
  5. Select your desired plan and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the subscription.

When you first subscribe to an API product, you're automatically given development-level access to synthetic FHIR data. To access real production data, you'll need to request an upgrade for your application.

  1. Sign in to the developer portal.
  2. Navigate to Apps from the main menu.
  3. Select the application you'd like to upgrade to production.
  4. Click Upgrade to production to request access.

You can rotate application credentials by creating a new set of credentials or by resetting existing credentials. This allows you to migrate to a new set of credentials in a managed way.

  1. Log in to the Developer Portal.
  2. Navigate to Apps from the main menu.
  3. Select the application whose credentials you want to manage.
  4. Open the Subscriptions tab.

To add an additional set of credentials:

  • Click Add and follow the prompts.

To reset existing credentials:

  • Open the three-dot menu on Credentials.
  • Select Reset Credentials or Reset API Secret, depending on your needs.

If you see the error message "Not registered to plan", your application is not currently authorized to access the API you're calling. Make sure your application is subscribed to the correct API product and plan. Follow the steps in How do I subscribe to an API product? to verify or add a subscription.
